Optimize your health

Physical Health

Physical health has many components. These include, obviously, the absence of any disease as well as physical activity, sleep, self care of medical concerns and an appropriate diet (food and fluid) with a focus on restorative nutrition.

For men it encompasses common concerns of the quality and quantity of exercise, levels of fitness, the best diets for men and efficiency of sleep (especially in aging men).  Common medical concerns include fatigue, a loss of vitality, testosterone deficiency, erectile dysfunction, the loss of hair as well as aging concerns. At Transform Men’s Health we concentrate on Anti-aging. This is extremely important as we work towards improving both lifespan and healthspan in men.

Mental Health

Mental health components include our psychological, emotional and social wellness.

It is both our mood and behaviour as well as how we think. Mental health is affected by our brain chemistry, genetics, and life experiences.

For men it includes common concerns including levels of stress, depression, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety. Our mental health can significantly affect our relationships, mood, energy levels and ability to cope and adapt to the complexities and messiness of life. Included in this is the danger of drug and alcohol use disorders. Also, men comprise 75% of all suicides and 1 in 4 of these are men over the age of 60.

Hormonal Health

Hormonal health is the maintenance and optimization of the hormone system of the body. Hormones are the chemical messengers of the body released into the bloodstream from the endocrine glands. The endocrine glands include the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal etc. They control many bodily functions including everything from metabolism to our reproduction.

For men they can affect energy levels, weight gain, muscle strength, fluid balance, moods, hair loss, hunger, thirst, sex drive as well as sleep, motivation and mental function. Testosterone is the most important male hormone but testosterone production decreases by about 1.6% yearly from our mid thirties on. This can lead to profound changes in the physical and mental functioning of men. Optimizing this can be life changing.
