Physical Health

Physical health has many components. It is the condition in which the body and its systems function optimally, allowing a person to perform daily activities without restrictions and minimize the risk for disease, injury and fatigue.

For men it is more than just the absence of illness it involves the ongoing maintenance of wellness through regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate rest and ongoing healthy lifestyle behaviours.

At Transform Men’s Health we concentrate on improving both physical health along with mental and emotional health to improve both longevity while also helping to attain a higher quality of life. ,

Mental Health

Mental health components include our psychological, emotional and social wellness.

It includes both mood and behaviour as well as how we think. Mental health is affected by our brain chemistry, genetics, and life experiences.

For men it includes common concerns including levels of stress, depression, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety. Our mental health can significantly affect our relationships, mood, energy levels and ability to cope and adapt to the complexities and messiness of life. Included in this is the danger of drug and alcohol use disorders. Importantly, men comprise 75% of all suicides in Canada and 1 in 4 of these are men over the age of 60.

Hormonal Health

Hormonal health is about maintenance and optimization of the hormone system of the body. Hormones are the chemical messengers of the body released into the bloodstream from the endocrine glands. The endocrine glands include the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal etc. They control many bodily functions, everything from metabolism to reproduction.

For men they can affect energy levels, weight gain, muscle strength, fluid balance, moods, hair loss, hunger, thirst, sex drive as well as sleep, motivation and mental function.

Testosterone is one of the most important male hormones, unfortunately testosterone production decreases by about 1.6% yearly from our thirties on. This can lead to profound changes in the physical, mental and emotional functioning of men. Optimizing this can be life changing.
